Thoughts:

Came here for Mother’s Day dinner because my mom made a hilarious mistake of scheduling a colonoscopy the Monday after Mother’s Day. I had wanted to try this place for a while. They had great reviews online and the pictures looked pretty good. I had high hopes, but sadly, was quite disappointed. When you walk in, the vibe of the place is nice, quiet with some jazz at the front and the service also is high quality. We go seated towards the back where it seemed much more quiet but the booths were really tiny and cramping – very odd choice.

The apps were also fair to good and served in good time, but the mains were honestly less than mid quality for the prices. My mom’s risotto was so undercooked that the grains were hard (how is that even possible). We had to send it back, and it was better the second time but still not to her liking. Luckily, they were nice enough to take the risotto off the bill even after recooking it, but it is such a crazy mistake for such a high end restaurant. The spaghetti was a little lacking in flavour. Proteins were done quite well – tender duck, tender beef, good pieces of lobster. For the price they charge for the veal as well, it did not blow my mind. We also asked for a side of steamed/grilled vegetables, but it got missed – we didn’t get charged though. Waiter tried to keep it all in his head, guess he couldn’t. I can’t in good conscience recommend this place, and I wonder where all the nice reviews come from. It’s a shame because the restaurant is in a walkable distance from us!
